Oops, my prefab mirror too seems to be not that good either. Sorry. But it should work fine apart from that missing image, I did check them before uploading.

I have Team Shambler of course since my focus was all the review sites. http://www.quaddicted.com/webarchive/te ... mespy.com/

Don't forget about http://www.quaketastic.com/cgi-bin/file ... e_archives where cooperative people upload their archives.

Thanks, Spirit. ;)

Yes, I was wondering how TeamShambler of all things could be missing and knew it couldn't be consider your level of involvement in saving said sites.

Spirit, this is borked and useless:

http://www.quakewiki.net/archives/world ... ndard.shtm

It's supposed to be the Worldcraft (The Forge) entity reference for Quake and likewise the Rogue and Hipnotic ones are foobar'd too.

Do you have a "functional" url?

Nope, I could not easily wget mirror worldcraft and then forgot. There are many sites I did not get. If Chip will share his downloaded files I could easily host it.

quakewiki.net serves it as text/plain which is why it is not rendered as HTML in the browser. Older IE will probably render (they love doing such things, very exploitable).

Files appear to be in chips archives, they just need some editing. I just tried it.

http://www.quaddicted.com/temp/forums.i ... httrack.7z (80 Megabytes, 2+ Gigabytes extracted)

Only temporarily at Quaddicted, so grab it while you can. It was too big for Quaketastic. :(

Careful when you open the directory in a file browser, it contains 40000 files. I did not include the external files (images etc).

That reminds me, I'll be uploading a lot of things at my host.
I've already uploaded a bit.

http://bfeared.com/library/index.php?dir=archive/

I've been gathering files from qWiki and such, I'm slowly adding files because I don't wanna hit my host with such a big load at once.
(if you look through higher directory's you may find more stuff)

@Spirit: somewhat good idea, but useless in case of an unlikely crash. It wouldn't be able to be imported into a fresh phpBB installation.

Isn't there anyone with access to administration section to dump a DB backup?

@Feared: good initiative

EDIT: Mirrored here (permanently): http://www.quakewiki.net/upload/inside3 ... httrack.7z

Several. In phpBB, any admin can do it directly from the admin panel. Error and FrikaC.

httrack archiving the forum is a bad idea imo.

I have a suggestion that would be a nice addition to the archives. Go through and replace external download links (like those pointing at file planet) with local files, then update the zips.

That would make the archives even more self contained and resilient in the face of the ever aging Internet. Of course, that would require more bandwidth and storage usage for the sites hosting the archives, but it would be nice.

What brought this to mind was that I've been getting back into the scene and looking to download some classic bits of history, only to get redirected from the sweet archives, to the hated fileplanet. (For some reason, I just hate Fileplanet, perhaps I'm a weirdo.)

FilePlanet hates us, too.
I know FrikaC made a cgi-bin version of the quakec interpreter once and wrote part of his website in QuakeC :) (LordHavoc)
